The Elfstones of Shannara

"The Ellcrys, the tree of long-lost Elven magic, is dying, unraveling the spell of Forbidding that locks the hordes of Demons away from the world..."

yes, another feature by me. why should we only feature things art related of japanese related? so i decided to do a feature on a book.

when i did decide, i was a bit stuck on what to feature first....although you might not have guessed, but im a book worm, and have lots of books and authors that i worship. I didn't want to choose a book that was too difficult, since as we all know they usually are boring, and i didn't want to choose a very modern book all about love.

So i decided The Elfstones of Shannara would be perfect.

i read this book when during teh summer holidays of 2007. i fell in love with the characters almost immediately. It's awesome. although i wouldn't recommend reading this before the first book in the series, but i found this book much more interesting. The plot and the dangers that awaits the main characters Wil and Amberle never stop, and i find myself hoping for them to admit their feelings for each other every single chapter.

Because i don't want to spoil much for those of you that have yet to read the book, im not going to criticize parts of the plot that i think terry brooks could've improved on. however, i was crying at the end of the book, and i was literally in tears. and no, not from laughter, but from the tragic fate of some characters.

Terry Brooks is amazing. his talent shines through with every single word he wrote, and the plot keeps you hooked on every page. definitely recommended if you are the type of reader for fantasy, and is looking for a LOTR-ish book.

the ironic thing is I just finished reading a book called 'Running with the Demon'.... and I turned it over and found the author's name.

Terry Brooks.
